How to use the word template
Enter a dot (.) in a character position where any letter will do, and a letter (A-Z) to require that letter in that character position.
The finder returns only words of the same length as the word template, so
s...r
will find 'steer' and 'sugar' (and others), but not 'steers' or 'sugary'.
How to use the codes template
The codes template is for use with codeword puzzles. Enter the codes from the relevant squares in the puzzle (as a list separated by commas),
and the word finder will find only words which match any repetitions of codes in the list. Leave the box blank for a standard search.
For example, the word template s...r
will find 'steer' and 'sugar' (and others) if used on its own,
but if you add a codes template of 12,8,21,21,4
it will only find 'steer', because the codes indicate that the third and fourth characters must be the same (and none of the other letters repeated).
Make sure not to put a comma after the last item in the code template, i.e. 12,8,21,21,4
not 12,8,21,21,4,
.
NOTE: The word finder doesn't attempt to find the actual letters for the codes you specify
(it doesn't know the answer to the puzzle!), only letters that match the repetitions. So the example above would find 'steer', but also 'sheer' and 'spoor'. It's up to you to decide which is the right one!
