I'm not a specialist news journalist, but I have written new stories, of both the product-release and industry-happenings variety. I also edited the news section of PC Plus for a couple of issues (135 and 136) at the end of 1997, writing much of the copy too. 

Here are some samples:

Opening news page, PC Plus Jan 98. The DoJ were suing Microsoft, and Microsoft were suing Sun.

'Man sues Microsoft', PC Plus Jan 98. An enjoyable, UK-based  David-beats-Goliath story from the inner news pages.

RogueWave ORB news story. Yes, I can do straightforward product-release stuff too! This one is at Developer Network Journal's online site, and I typed it straight into the grid.
