How well do I do it? |

What do I know? - DigiCams.
Digital
cameras - I love 'em. The reason is that they let amateur photographers
(like me) behave like pros, taking hundreds of shots and using just the five
percent which are any good. Having done that, you can then use
post-production techniques that most professionals could only have dreamed
of as little as ten years ago. If your target display medium is a computer
screen rather than the printed page, a good digicam's results are likely to
be better than all but the most expensive film-based alternatives.
I've reviewed cameras from most of the big names, including
Fuji, Agfa, Olympus, Ricoh, Kodak, Sony and Panasonic. As with all products,
I consider practical useability to be as important as a high feature-count,
if not more so. Accordingly, my reviews tell you whether the camera has
manual exposure control and how well it copes with backlit subjects, but
also whether a fiddly power switch will drive you mad, or a flimsy lens cap
will leave your precious optics exposed.
Credit
where credit's due, I say - and a good lambasting when that's due too. At
under £100 the Trust PhotoCam seemed a tempting bargain, but it was so bad
as to be genuinely not worth buying, and that's what I said about it.
