"Dig the beard, man!"

I started doing a one-page (c. 950 words) opinion column when I was Editor of PC Plus, and was still doing it eight years later as a freelance. The column focussed on industry trends and developments, especially the activities of Microsoft and, in later years, developments in Internet infrastructure. Here are some samples:

January 1997 - the truth behind the Microsoft/Intel Net PC specification, plus Netscape's desktop surrender and Lotus's dark horse.

April 99 - free ISPs are great, and unmetered calls even greater, but only as stepping stones towards a permanently-wired SuperHighway.

May 99 - were Steve 'Mad Dog' Ballmer's Microsoft reorganisation plans crazy? I didn't think so.

I'm available to do an opinion column now, and would also be very interested in doing a multi-point format, mixing news and product items. Mail me for more details
